About
This Might Be Cringe is a living collection of essays by me, Julie Laufer, a 30-something-year-old New Yorker, Product Manager, Mother, ADHDer, and overall fairly ordinary human. This newsletter was born out of a creative impulse—and perhaps a touch of desperation—after spending some time reflecting on life when I found myself unemployed at 23 weeks pregnant. I write about whatever’s on my mind and let inspiration take precedence over “content strategy”.
Currently, I’m no longer unemployed (got a job!) and no longer pregnant (had the baby!). I live in Brooklyn with my husband, our toddler, and our two cats, Maude and Mathilda.
Why subscribe?
Because you find the things happening in my brain mildly interesting, maybe. Or you’re my mom (Hi, Mom). My most recent posts are almost always free, but I keep my archives locked. I also do release paid posts from time to time (about once every month or so) for topics that are a little more vulnerable and closer to home.
Other ways to support
The absolute best way to support me is by reading and liking what I write and sharing it with others—thank you for being here! Getting on my free email list is the next best way to show me your support.
Want to support financially but not into the whole ‘paid subscription’ thing? That’s totally cool—here’s a link to my tip jar, if that’s more your speed.
If you’d like a paid subscription but cost is an issue, please reach out—I’d love to gift you one, no questions asked. If you want to help with that effort, consider subscribing to my Founding ‘Pay it Forward’ tier, which allows me to sponsor those who want to read this for free.
Disclaimer: All thoughts are my own and don’t reflect the opinions of others. The experiences are mine and stories are told through my personal lens.
